Tips for Customizing with Canadel

So, you know that your dining room needs a makeover – not just the walls and floors and countertops – but your dining set too. It’s time for an update, and you can’t wait to start looking online and in stores for the perfect piece to complement the rest of the space.

Or maybe it’s just time to replace your kitchen table, so you begin shopping – in person or online – but you end up frustrated because you can’t find just the right set.

You’re not alone. And Canadel understands that sometimes the kitchen or dining set that you picture sitting in your dining space isn’t a run-of-the-mill, common piece you can find in most showrooms. That’s why they offer you, the customer, all the control. Every decision is yours, from material and finish to color and size. It’s all about what you want in order to create the perfect atmosphere for you and your family and friends to enjoy each other.

However, it’s really important to know yourself before you start the process of customization. (No, I’m not going “Sigmund Freud” on you. I promise.) What I mean is that you need to think through many details before you can customize just the right piece to complete your space. You need to consider not only what you like but what your needs are.

Preparing to Order Your Custom Canadel Dining Set

Now, maybe you already know exactly what you want. But maybe you don’t. Either way, it’s important to pick the right color, style, and size to complete your dining space. You want to consider many things; here are some of the most important to get you started:

Style

Knowing what style you want before you start the customizing process helps to narrow down the options. Is your style more rustic or traditional? Contemporary or modern? Chic or trendy?

You need to get in touch with both your style and your needs. Spend some time looking through design magazines or browsing design websites to see what stands out to you most. You’ll also want to go to Kitchen Tables and More to get up close and personal with the different types of woods and finishes to see which you like and which you don’t like.

By the way, knowing what you don’t like is almost as important as knowing what you do like!

Canadel Two Tone Table

Material

All Canadel tables and chairs are made of 100% solid wood, so you can be sure you’ll end up with a high-quality dining set. But you will want to consider if you’d like regular chairs or a bench or two. If you’d like upholstered chairs, you’ll need to decide how you want them upholstered (standard, microfiber, bonded leather or genuine leather). These chair fabrics also come in different colors and patterns too.

Color

There are so many beautiful options with Canadel, but how do you choose just the right color or pattern for your dining set? Choosing a color that will go well in your kitchen or dining room area is really important.

If you are trying to match cabinets, for example, bringing in one of your cabinet doors to the store is a great way to make sure that the Canadel color will match your décor. Alternately, you can also take home a “loaner” sample. With a “loaner” sample, customers get to take home wood or fabric samples for 24 hours to compare it in their home dining space and lighting. (Please note: customers pay a small fee for the “loaner” when they take it home and either get refunded when they return it or credit that amount to their future sale.)

You’ll also have a chance to decide what type of finish you want, matte or antique.

Either way, color is incredibly important because you want your new kitchen or dining set to work with your décor, not against it. So be sure to consider what color will work best in your space.

Size

When it comes to size, think of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. You know, the children’s story you loved as a kid. In that story, we learned that bigger isn’t always better (nor will too small work). You want to shoot for something that’s just right!

The first thing you really need to do is measure your space. Don’t just guess – break out the measuring tape and measure the size of your room or space. You can’t choose the right size for your table until you know the size of your room because you need to have at least 2 feet of space on either side of the table so there is room to comfortably pull chairs out from the table. (There’s nothing worse – or embarrassing – than feeling stuck between a table and a wall, right?)

As you’re measuring, you will also get a better sense of which table shape will best suit your dining area.

Canadel Table and 4 Chairs

Shape & Tabletop

After measuring your dining area, you’ll probably have a better idea about which shape table will work best: square, rectangle, round or oval. And there are many, many choices for tables including what type of legs or pedestals and shapes for legs or pedestals (unfinished or turned). You can even choose the color for your tabletop as well as how the edge is finished.

Seating

Likewise, there are many choices when it comes to chairs, from regular chairs to side chairs to benches to stools. It all depends on your style and your preferences. The shape of the chair back, the legs and the seat, and whether you have arms or not, are all things you’ll want to consider when customizing your dining set.

Let the Creativity Begin!

As you can see, there isn’t one single detail left to chance; you get to make all the decisions down to the minutest detail. Canadel offers you the chance to creatively design the perfect kitchen or dining set for your style, preferences and needs.
