14 Jul Choosing the Right Dining Table for Your Family!
There are many deciding factors that play an important role when choosing your dining table.
After all, this will be the place that, for years to come, family will gather, stories will be shared, games will be played, and homework will be done. Understandably, you want this table to stand the test of time, yet fit into your space and accommodate your lifestyle well. If you have young children, or just simply a lifestyle that will not be easy on your dining table, you may want to go with a material that is more durable-or, on the other end of the spectrum, choose a table which has distressing to begin with. Metal tabletops will be durable-such as zinc or copper. These metal tabletops will provide a more industrial styling. On the other hand, distressed tabletops are great for people who have young kids because an additional mark on the table won’t stand out or be an obvious flaw.
After choosing your wood or metal, the next decision will be color.
When attempting to choose the color, it is best to bring along an extra sample of your flooring or cabinets, or pictures of your space-anything that will help in the decision process. Size and shape are other decisions which must be made. Measuring your space before you begin shopping will help-and when measuring available space in your room, include the furniture as part of the space not available. In other words, don’t measure wall-to-wall, unless your room is bare of furniture. Based on the amount of space you have, and how many people you plan on seating on a daily basis, the best shape of table will also change. Rectangular tables are best when the room is rectangular (as most are) and you want to seat a large amount of people. Round and square will be best for smaller spaces, but round is particularly great for rooms that are square.
